“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” (Prov. 17:22 ESV)
Something is to be said about having a positive attitude and a joyful spirit. When we have these, life takes on a different perspective from what it looks like when we struggle with doom and gloom. We learn to enjoy life, no matter what we face; this comes from our joy in the Lord. When we walk in the joy of the Lord, our days seem brighter, and our attitude seems lighter. The Holy Spirit brings this joy into our lives, lifting our spirits. It is up to us to seek the presence of the Holy Spirit and walk in his presence continually. When we do, we will find ourselves walking with a joyful heart.
Heavenly Father,
Help us to walk with a joyful heart; help us to walk in the joy of your Spirit. When our bones seem as if they have started to dry up, anoint them with the oil of joy that only you can give. May the good medicine of a “joyful heart” be present in our lives, and may it be an expression of our relationship with Jesus Christ and our love for you.
Amen
